Dolomites
This fun and spontaneous weekend hiking trip was planned only one day before. On Thursday after work. my friend Leszek called me asking if I would like to join on a spontaneous weekend trip to the Italian Dolomites. The weather was looking fantastic. How could I say no?
We started our 6-hour drive from Zurich on Friday evening and arrived to our AirBnB late at night. As we wanted to explore as much as possible, we had a packed itinerary and an early start to each morning. On the Saturday, we covered multiple areas and breathtaking landscapes. Three of the routes are highlighted below. The following day, we hiked 23.5 km up to Piz Boè, the highest mountain of the Sella Group, a mountain-range in the Dolomites. Afterwards, and as the sun was setting, we started our drive back to Zurich, ready for work on Monday. In total, we hiked 58.8 km with an elevation gain of 3,339 meters.
Considering the Italian Dolomites spans an area of approximately one third the size of Switzerland, I left eager to explore more and look forward to be hopefully back soon.
